Buteyko Breathing Centre UK
The Buteyko Breathing Centre is the oldest established clinic in the UK for the treatment of over 150 disorders, identified by Dr Konstantin Buteyko, as caused by Chronic Hidden Hyperventilation.
The most commonly occurring are: asthma, hayfever, emphysema, bronchiectasis, migraine, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), stress, anxiety and Type 2 diabetes. The Buteyko Method is used extensively in Russia, Australia and New Zealand.
Clinical trials were completed in 1994 and 2000, showing asthmatics achieving a 90% reduction in reliever medication and 49% inhaled steroids within 3 months. Over a million people have now successfully learned the Buteyko Method developed by Dr Konstantin Buteyko.
The UK Centre was set up near Leicester in 1995 by Margaret Brooks, who was taught the Classical Buteyko Method to address her asthma, regular migraines, high blood pressure and feeling of constant fatigue. When she caught the ‘flu’ and had to be hospitalised with a severe asthma attack, she decided it was time to take control of her health.
She was fortunate to see an article on the Buteyko method in a newspaper, and found that it worked so well that she was able to come off all of her medication within a short time. As a result, she decided to train to teach the Method, becoming one of Alexander Stalmatsky’s first practitioners of the Classical Buteyko Method in the UK. Margaret promoted Dr. Buteyko’s only visit to the UK with some of her patients in May 1999.
The Buteyko Breathing Centre is now located in Stratford-upon-Avon, under the directorship of Linda Meads. Although based in Stratford, we are happy to arrange Weekend Workshops in your town/city, so please contact us if you would like to see:
