The UK Buteyko Breathing Centre is the oldest established clinic in the UK for the treatment of Asthma, Emphysema, Bronchiectasis, and Hyperventilation Syndrome, as well as many other breathing related disorders. This method is used extensively in Russia, Australia and New Zealand. Clinical trials have been completed, showing asthmatics achieving a 90% reduction in reliever medication within 6 weeks. Over 1 million people have now successfully learned the Buteyko method. It's work is based on the method developed by Dr Konstantin Buteyko (opposite). |

The Centre was set up in 1995 by Margaret Brooks who had learned the Buteyko method to address her asthma, regular migraines, high blood pressure and feeling of constant fatigue. When she caught the flu and had to be hospitalised with a severe asthma attack, she decided it was time to take control of her health. She was fortunate to see an article on the Buteyko method in a newspaper and and found that it worked so well that she was able to come off all her medication within a short time. As a result she decided to train to teach the Method becoming one of Sacha Stalmatski's first practitioners in the UK. Margaret promoted Dr. Buteyko's only visit to the UK with some of her patients in May 1999. |
The UK Buteyko Breathing Centre is now located in Stratford-upon-Avon, under the directorship of Linda Meads. (pictured right) and incorporates AsthmaCare UK set up to match the working methods of Patrick McKeown's Buteyko breathing practice, AsthmaCare Ireland. AsthmaCare Courses are held by practitioners Linda Meads in the UK (London SW and Central, Stratford-upon-Avon, & abroad - Singapore) and Una Moone based in Perth (Edinburgh and Perth). |
